The role will involve:
  • Creating designs for incoming customer orders based on their specific design requirements.
  • Ensuring all designs are optimised in terms of effect, organisation and manufacturability.
  • Creating design sample packs for customers.
  • Work with the design team and manage aspects of the imagery on all marketing material from the website through to sales collateral ensuring consistency and maintaining a fresh approach

They are offering £95.55 per week; working 35 hours per week – Monday – Friday. You will work towards a Level 2 NVQ in Design Support with attendance to Gateshead College to complete functional skills if require

The successful Apprentice will be involved in a variety of administration duties including:

  •     Postal duties: sorting, opening and recording post received.
  •     Organising and documenting paper files to be scanned (may involve some packing, unpacking and moving around of archive boxes).
  •     Meet and greet visitors to the office: Ensuring they sign in and are provided with day passes; escorting visitors to meeting rooms; advising necessary parties of their arrival and    offering refreshments. Ensuring they return passes and sign-out when leaving the premises.
  •     Answering phones in line with corporate guidelines: to provide telephony cover for the general phone line.
  •     General office and administration duties, supporting other team members during busy periods including activities such as large scale mail shots to clients, maintaining stationery stores, archiving, photocopying, binding, information pack production etc.

You will work towards a Level 2 NVQ in Business Administration with day release to Gateshead College to complete a Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if required.

GCSE C or above in English, Maths and ICT or equivalents

Skills required

  •     Numerate: able to assimilate data, apply accuracy and confident when working with figures.
  •     Good communication skills, by phone and face to face.
  •     Organised approach to work: able to plan and co-ordinate their own workloads.
  •     IT literate: preferably experience of using MS Office applications including Outlook, Excel and Word. Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint would be useful but not essential.

They are offering £107.20 per week, working 37 hours, Monday – Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm.  You will work towards a Level 2 NVQ in Business Administration with day release to complete a Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if required.

Contact Centre Support Apprentice

Aesthetic Response offers an enquiry and diary management service for  a wide range of aesthetic and cosmetic practices which involve call answering, message taking, appointment making, diary management, call analysis reports, SMS text reminders, and email response services.

Aesthetic Reponse expertise in enquiry call handling offers a first class, ‘virtual front of house’ service for aesthetic and cosmetic professionals.

The successful Apprentice will be involved in a variety of duties including:

  •     Accurate data inputting
  •     Emailing and answering calls with consistent professionalism
  •     Logging and responding to email enquiries on behalf of clients
  •     Updating of key information on whiteboards to assist team on a daily basis
  •     Download voicemails, logging and forwarding to team for appropriate response
  •     Monitoring voicemail box and email throughout day
  •     Answering calls from Facilitate Service plan (message response) accounts
  •     Sending of accurate, appropriate, detailed messages
  •     Providing administrative support to the Operations and Office Managers
  •     Amendments/updates to AR database
  •     Text remainders for clients on Google diaries
 Skills required:
  •     Excellent telephone manner when dealing with a range of clients
  •     High standard of literacy
  •     Have excellent communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal

They are offering £3.75 an hour, 37 hour per week working Monday – Saturday with some late nights required. You will work towards a Level 2 NVQ in Business Administration with day release to complete a Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if required.

The Twisting Ducks Theatre Company

Live Events and Promotion Apprentice

The Twisting Ducks Theatre Company provides opportunities for people with learning disabilities to participate in film, music and the performing arts.
They also deliver drama-based training to raise awareness about important learning disability issues.

You must be confident, enthusiastic and outgoing with good communication skills and an interest in working with people with learning disabilities.

You will be expected to cover the following duties:

  •     Helping to organise, promote and coordinate live events and community fundraising activities.
  •     Supporting individuals and groups of people with learning disabilities to develop their skills in performing, communication and teamwork.
  •     Providing additional support for live performances (including technical assistance and on-stage support).
  •     Assisting the senior project support worker and the project coordinator.

This position is based at the Twisting Ducks Studio, Westgate Community College on Newcastle’s West Road. Progression into a permanent position is available upon completion of Apprenticeship for the right candidate.

Main responsibilities/Duties:

  •     Support and lead on the planning, promotion and coordination of live events and community fundraising activities.
  •     Provide direct support to individuals and group members with learning disabilities to help them develop their skills.
  •     Manage group dynamics effectively and support people to work together as a team.
  •     Assist at live performances/events, and during film shoots.
  •     Assist with promotional activity, including social media to raise the profile of the charity and increase audiences.
  • Participate in the Apprenticeship training and achieve all qualifications. Support Twisting Ducks members with workshop and training facilitation. Plan efficiently and work to deadlines.

This Apprenticeship opportunity is funded through the Apprenticeship Plus fund which is aimed at encouraging 16-18 year olds from Newcastle area to gain employment. Apprentice Engineer (Rail) x 10

Nexus are looking to recruit ten engineering apprentices to commence training in September 2015.

Nexus owns and manages the Tyne and Wear Metro and applicants will want to contribute to the running of this essential light rail service, which carries 38 million passengers a year.

Three years in duration, the apprentice programme will equip you with the skills and experience necessary to become a Maintenance Engineering Technician. All Nexus apprentices start training in Mechatronics. Mechatronics is the combination of mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, a multidisciplinary field of engineering.

In the later stages of your apprenticeship your training will be more specialised towards Electrical/Mechanical & Plant; Overhead Lines OHL [Electrical/Mechanical]; Signalling & Communications [Electrical/Electronic].

Successful applicants will spend the first year at Gateshead College’s specialist engineering training centre. At the commencement of your second year you will attend college on a block release basis studying for an HNC. The remainder of your second and third years will be spent at Nexus’s Rail Engineering base in South Gosforth, Newcastle, working with experienced     maintenance teams who look after Metro infrastructure, including tracks, signalling systems and structures.

From the very beginning, you will learn about our very high safety standards which are a critical part of your everyday life in the railway industry, and obtain the qualifications and skills to develop a long-term career with Nexus. Whatever discipline, the work is safety critical and is always conducted with the highest levels of safety in mind.

It is important you understand what is involved in a career with Nexus. This is job that is regularly required to work outdoors and often requires a good level of physical fitness. Before an offer of employment is made you will be required to undergo a medical with our Occupational Health Provider. This is to ensure that you meet the standard for working in a safety critical role. Nexus has a strict policy on drug and alcohol use.

Apprentice Business Administrator x 2

Gateshead College are looking to recruit two apprentice administrators

The successful candidates will be involved in a variety of administration duties including:

  •     Use a variety of software packages to produce and maintain documents, correspondence, spread sheets and databases relating to Customer Services.
  •     Dealing with all aspects of internal and external post
  •     Mailing documents
  •     Photocopying
  •     Process printing/photocopying requests
  •     Faxing and email
  •     Store and retrieve information
  •     Producing written and typed reports
  •     Maintaining accuracy of files
  •     Archiving documentation and files
  •     Arrange meetings, book rooms, take and produce minutes

To provide and be responsible for delivering a high quality support services to meet the Customer Service and reception service requirements. Responsibilities will include: Telephone and reception services, including dealing effectively with enquiries and taking messages for other staff

  •     Assist in dealing with all incoming student applications in the first instance by printing, logging, sending acknowledgements and responding to queries
  •     Assist with evening events for recruitment of students
  •     Assist with the review and improvement of the design, planning and organisation of customer service activities e.g. student admissions
  •     Assist with data entry to ensure enquiry and student databases are accurate and up to date
  •     Assist with ordering stationery supplies ensuring stock levels are maintained
  •     Assist with any specific projects or assist in other areas of the department as required
  •     Attend College to achieve apprenticeship programme and qualifications
